I used to sell my prints online. And the reason that I took it down is...well...I just got lazy going to the post office all the time :) Haha. But I plan on making my prints available to purchase online again because of the response I got from the REVO Oahu show last Saturday night.

It's been a looooooong time since i've sold my work at an art show. With that said, I didn't print out a lot of my work because I wasn't sure if they would sell like they used to. But I guess I was wrong. I sold out of prints quickly! YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME! THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT!

REVO Oahu + SCTNow Honolulu Benefit Show

Besides my part-time job and my freelance business, I've been working for a non-profit organization called REVO. It originated in Hilo, HI in 2007 by my very good friend Nina Brav, and in just 3 short years, REVO has gone global and branched out to 15 states and 4 other countries. After working for REVO for the past years, I decided to plant roots for REVO here, on Oahu. REVO is something I love dearly and live for with great passion. We host benefit shows to help raise funds and awareness for other non-profits (Read more on my involvement with REVO).

I support the underground with all my heart -- so many talented artists and musicians out there that don't get enough credit. I know what that's like. I struggled as well with getting my art and name out there. The type of art I do, some people don't necessarily consider it "art." That's why I owe so much to Noa (groundUP) for giving me the opportunity to get my work seen. To think of where I started, and to know where I am now...crazy. People on this island wouldn't know my name if it wasn't for you and groundUP. I am FOREVER grateful.

Why helllooo world!

I've been so busy lately, and may I add, really unorganized. So unorganized that all these files are crowding my desktop! yikes! (I hate when that happens! I like keeping my desktop clear of crazy amounts of thumbnails) Anyways...my website here has been having major wardrobe malfunctions. If you've [unfortunately] seen it the past month or two, my layouts have changed at least 4 times. I don't know why...i'm very indecisive right now. But, looks like this new look will have to do. It's not done yet though - which is why all the links don't work :)

Anywho, I feel like i've been losing my touch as an "artist" recently. I'm always designing for others, and rarely for myself nowadays. But last night, I was in the mood to make a new vector piece. I've been rummaging through old backup discs recently and found an old mixed cd full of Common's instrumental tracks. And with that said, I was inspired to make this:

Started working on it around 12:30 am, finished at almost 3. So a total of almost 3 hours (not as long as others i've done). this type of art form takes a long time to do, a lot of clicking, staring at the screen, and sitting (I need a comfy chair!!) <--- ok so clicking, staring, and sitting doesn't sound difficult (lol) but vector art takes a whole lot of patience (just like painting, it takes a while to finish, but to see it all come together at the end, SO WORTH IT!) And plus, good, chill music always makes the process fly by quick:

taking a break

Hey guys. I know I mentioned this late last year about taking a break from web design. And I think I'm reaching the point where I really need to take this break.

I honestly don't want a future in web development. It's nothing personal towards anyone or any client, I just never intended this to be a part of my life the way it is. This was supposed to be just a "hobby"...not a career choice. But somewhere down the line, I ended up having "web designer" attached to my name.

My love for design is targeted more towards print-related work. That's what I'm most passionate about. I do enjoy building websites but my knowledge for it is really limited and I can't keep up with all these advances in the web development world (especially now with mobile internet). And it has nothing to do with learning all of this stuff -- I just simply don't have interest in it, well the development part at least. I just love to make things look nice; giving things a better visual appeal.

I'm not sure where life's gonna take me, but for now,
I'm no longer going to be taking in any new requests for websites.
Sorry guys, but I have to do what I have to do =T

Hey guys! Just wanted to let you all know that I recently went back to my old job (Kumon Math and Reading Center). Now that I'm done with school, I had alllll this extra free time. Too much free time. Hahaha. Didn't know what to do with myself so I decided to go back to teaching kids how to read and spell :)

Hey guys. I think after I finish up these 2 websites, I'm gonna take a break from web design. The only clients I will continue to work with are the ones that have maintenance plans. Web development was NEVER a love of mine. And I want to do things that I love.

Sorry everyone. I think I'm going to stop taking new requests for websites at the end of this year. I will still be available for print work though (now that was my first love when it comes to design!)

It's been a great experience working for many different people. I've learned and grown so much, not only personally but with my skills in design and development as well. But I feel as if I strayed from what I really loved to do and from my real passions. I have to get back to it.

I've been revamping the REVO website this past week. Trying to give it a fresh, new look. I'm almost done with it and I'm pretty pleased with how it's coming along. Anyways, if you're going to be in the Los Angeles area on October 4th, you better hit up REVO's next event!

It's a benefit show to help the children in West Papua, Indonesia get the best quality education they deserve. And it's going to be AMAZING! The artist line up is just insane. I really wish I could be there but unfortunately, I can't. And it sucks. Oh well. But if you're going to be in town, don't miss it!!

I'm really excited to be working again :) I'm still working on 2 websites that was put on hold because of my recent vacation. But I should be wrapping those up soon. Currently fixing up Mr. Green's Myspace music page. Also on the line-up, I'll be revamping Erika David's Myspace page soon as well as her website.

I am so sorry everyone, especially those who paid for web maintenance. I know I said I would be checking my email everyday while on vacation but it's been really difficult and almost impossible to get a connection to the internet. I've been going from house to house staying at my relatives' homes and it's hard to get a signal wherever I go. I think I've only been able to get a connection twice up here and I'm sorry that many of my email replies are really late. I've just responded to a bunch of emails and hopefully I can respond a lot quicker within the next weeks.

I've been rushing to get things done. But in between waiting for clients to reply back to my emails, I found time to give my site a makeover for summer. Also squeezed in some time to pimp out Nina's blog and designed a business card for my friend Josh (check out his blog: knowgodknowlove.com).

In other news, I really need to start making a to-do list again. I know there's so many other things I need to do but I keep forgetting about them throughout the day. This is a must. I've been feeling quite unorganized recently and I hate feeling that way.

I've completed quite a few projects recently but I haven't been posting them up. I will soon, as well as launch a new design for this website again =]

I'll be in an art show this Saturday called, "The Lost Cause" It'll be held at the old Ashley Furniture store, now the brand new Hope Chapel, in Waikele. Donations will be collected for a mission trip to the Philippines. Come on by if you're free! I didn't get the flyer yet. Seriously. I DO NOT feel like I'm living in Hawaii right now. The winds today were terrifying at work! I felt so uncomfortable. Haha. I've NEVER heard the wind SOUND like that. Like it was screaming at us or something. dbfvdbgngfn. And what the heck...a TORNADO?? There was a tornado in Kapolei?? Wow. Tornadoes and Hawaii - not common at all. Anyways, today's weather was completely random. Added a new set of business cards to the portfolio.

I finished up the "Hey Josh" Myspace last week. I didn't do any real design work for this project -- I wish I did though because the graphics are soooooo nice! lol. I mainly had to take what was on the website and reformat it into a Myspace layout.

In weather news, maaaann it's cold here in beautiful, somewhat sunny Oahu. January was the most coldest month I've ever experienced here in Hawaii. But -- I'm not complaining! I love the cold weather. I just hate how lazy it makes you. Well, I don't hate it, it's just...never mind I LOVE IT! =]

Can't sleep. And i've been quite bored this past month. I hate how Adult Swim replaced Family Guy with King of The Hill. Uggh. Now I have to wait until 1:30 AM to get my Griffin fix! They totally screwed up my weeknights...yea. Anyways...I begged my good friend, Ms. Nina Brav, a few days ago to GIVE ME SOMETHING TO DESIGN. And...wah-lah!

Ancient Findings

I was going through old burnt cds full of my old files and I found a butt load of my OLD WORK!! I found stuff that I did back when I was like 14 years old. I even found old layouts I did for my AsianAvenue page and as well for all of those websites I was hosted under. SCARY. Hahaha! I find it amazing how I started designing (for both graphic and web) back when I was only 13, and here I am at almost 21 and my passion for art and design is still going strong. *sigh. I love it. Anyways, I'm still gathering all of my old work so I can post them up. Most of them were party invitations. I posted some of them already. Go check them out in my portfolio under the "print" section.

Hah! I get really tired of my own work really quick so that's why my website keeps changing =] The old look I had on here didn't feel like me so I made something that I felt more comfortable with, something...SIMPLE. Anyways, i'm excited to be starting on new projects! Fall semester's almost over so i'll have more free time to start doing more work and focus on building my portfolio. Man, I love what I do.

REVO - Myspace Impact Awards

I'm so late with this, but Revo was nominated for the Myspace Impact Award. This month's category was International Development and Revo was nominated along with 2 other amazing organizations. Voting began at the beginning of this week and ended today. At first, it didn't seem like Revo was going to make it. We were at 11% while the other 2 nominees were in the 40% area. But amazingly, with the help of an amazing friend, many supporters, and of course with God's sweet grace, Revo made its way to the very top!!! Last time I checked the status, Revo was at 53% so...THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR VOTING!!!!! The results will be revealed on Monday, June 23 so check that out! Thankkkkkkkkkk you again to everyone who voted! Your support means so much to Revo! START A REVO!!

The 3 organizations deserve this award, no matter who wins. It's always a blessing to see people unite to make this world a better place. ...when you least expect it. Tonight, a billion ideas came into my head. New designs, new compositions, new projects...God is amazing. Hopefully I can turn these ideas into real items. I wanna make my art more available -- in different forms than just a sheet of glossy paper. I can't wait to begin!! Summer 2008 is definitely the best one so far. Art is my life. And FINALLY, I found time to do what I love. Letting go of all the negative and useless things in my life, was indeed hard, but it has certainly proved to be the best thing I could have ever done for myself.

Keep yourself posted! I don't know when I'll start on these new projects, but I will soon! And I am sooooooooo excited!!!

Vision Artshow

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Vision artshow last night, for the support and for all of the generous donations towards the mission trip to Africa.

The performances last night were AMAZING! And I gotta say, the little comedy skit at the end was so entertaining. Good stuff and many talented artists as well. If you didn't make it last night, you seriously missed out!!! Anywho, It's time to retire my Einstein and groundUP piece. I've got new ideas that I have to work on. I can't wait to see how they turn out. Hah! Oh and one more thing: I've added 2 more business cards to my portfolio so go check those out!

My laptop had a virus for the last couple of weeks so I had to put all of my projects on hold. But luckily, everything has been fixed and i'm tryin my best to get everything done. I'm working on some new stuff right now, mainly printwork (which I am so happy about!).
